September 2018 TBR

SeptemberTBRHappy September, loves! October is like “the book release month” therefore, September is going to be “when Melanie reads all her damn ARCS month!” Well, hopefully! But these are the ten books that I hope to read and love this month! 💛

Blanca y Roja by Anna-Marie McLemore
Publication Date: October 9th, 2018 by Feiwel & Friends
September 15th through October 15th is National Hispanic Heritage here in the United States! I’m really going to put an emphasis on reading ownvoices Latinx books during these next two months, but what better way to start than with my queen, Anna-Marie McLemore!

Fight or Flight by Samantha Young
Publication Date: October 9th, 2018 by Berkley
Also, Julie, Chelsea, and Natasha are hosting Contemporary-A-Thon from Sept. 17th through Sept. 23rd! So, I’m going to read all the contemporary ARCs I have during that week and try to make them fit for the challenges! Therefore, Fight or Flight fits for the five star prediction challenge and maybe for initials somewhere on the cover, because of the M in Samantha (yeah, I know I’m stretching, haha!)

The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory
Publication Date: October 30th, 2018 by Berkley
And this one fits for a diverse read for Contemporary-A-Thon, because this is ownvoices for a black main character! Also, I’m so hyped to read this because I loved The Wedding Date so much!

Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake
This is probably the only non-ARC I’m going to read for Contemporary-A-Thon, maybe besides a graphic novel, because I can’t resist picking up this book. This book is so many of my friends’ favorite book of the year, and I just know I’m going to love it, too! Also, it fits the challenges for a new to you author, and it’s about a dark subject matter.

Damsel by Elana K. Arnold
Publication Date: October 2nd, 2018 by Balzer + Bray
This one is actually getting a lot of “negative” reviews because of the dark contents in this book, but when I read the synopsis a long while ago, I was completely enthralled. We will see how it goes, but I predict that I will end up really enjoying this one.

For a Muse of Fire (For a Muse of Fire #1) by Heidi Heilig
Publication Date: September 25th, 2018 by Greenwillow Books
This is an ownvoices Asian inspired fantasy that I can’t resist picking up any longer! This book has to do with tyranny, and rebellion, and I’m pretty sure it has something to do with music, and I’m just here for it all honestly.

Shadow of The Fox (Shadow of the Fox #1) by Julie Kagawa
Publication Date: October 2nd, 2018 by Harlequin Teen
I love Julie Kagawa more than I have words to express. This is probably the book I’m most looking forward to for the last half of 2018. And this is going to be a love letter to Japanese legends, lore, and mythos.

The Sisters of the Winter Wood by Rena Rossner
Publication Date: September 25th, 2018 by Redhook
This book is giving me major The Bear and the Nightingale vibes! Two sisters, remote Russian village, house set in the woods. I actually have super high hopes for this one. And I’m buddy reading it with Jules at JA Ironside! ❤

Phoenix Unbound (Fallen Empire #1) by Grace Draven
Publication Date: September 25th, 2018 by Ace Books
This is a fantasy romance that all of my friends have completely adored! And I was so happy when an ARC showed up on my doorstep! Because honestly? All I want to read is fantasy romance, but it’s actually harder to find than you’d think!

The Darkdeep (The Darkdeep #1) by Ally Condie & Brendan Reichs
Publication Date: October 2nd, 2018 by Bloomsbury
This is middle grade horror that everyone is comparing the Stranger Things. That’s honestly all I know about it, but that was enough to have me request it, apparently! I hope to love this one!

Okay, my loves! I think that’s it! I have a few other October release to read, too, but they drop later in the month! Seriously, I hope I am prepared to read this month, because I have a lot on the TBR pile! I hope you all had an amazing August, and I’m wishing you all the love and happy reading this September! 🍂
