Down the TBR Hole #10

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story! The point of it is to help cull your reading lists down, or maybe push higher anticipated releases up on your TBR! And maybe you all can help me along the way, and tell me if you’ve loved or hated any of these!

How it works:
➽ Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
➽ Order on ascending date added.
➽ Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
➽ Read the synopses of the books
➽ Decide: keep it or should it go?

This week’s selections just make me giggle! I mean, I’m nothing if not all over the place with my reading, and this is the dang proof. From manga, to high fantasy, to poetry, to wishful thinking, it’s all here this week!

The Six Books:

Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay
I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but I’ve never read anything by Guy Gavriel Kay before. But most people I know that love his work, always recommend this one. If you’re a fan, do you agree? I’d honestly rather start with the one you all love the most!
Verdict: Delete ❌

No Game, No Life Vol. 1 by Yuu Kamiya & Mashiro Hiiragi
I remember that this is about a brother and sister that are summoned by a God to play a game that will impact the world. The only reason I kind of want to take this off my TBR is because everyone has told me that anime is way better.
Verdict: Delete ❌

Blue Exorcist, Vol. 1 (Blue Exorcist #1) by Kazue Kato
Swords that inflict demon powers! The Catholic church vs. demons. Like, this is going to be amazing and I’m never taking it off my TBR! I only hope that I’m able to get to it soon!
Verdict: Keep ✅

The Winds of Winter (A Song of Ice and Fire #6) by George R.R. Martin
I did a reread of ASOIAF back in the summer of 2016, so I’m guessing that’s why this book is here on my TBR. BUT TRUST ME, it has been for much longer. Also, I’m sick and in denial and will keep it on my TBR forever and ever.
Verdict: Keep ✅

The Thousand Names (The Shadow Campaigns #1) by Django Wexler
You all, I need to read this series so bad. So very bad. So many books and so little time, and such big TBRs! But I know that I will eventually read this and I hope to really love it.
Verdict: Keep ✅

Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
I can’t believe I haven’t read this one, but it’s probably because it’s so polarizing and the people that dislike it seem to dislike it very loudly. I got this signed on a Black Friday sale at B&N back in 2016, so I should probably get around to it. Plus, if I had to bet, I’d say that I will enjoy this.
Verdict: Keep ✅

Okay, friends, these are the next oldest six books I have on my TBR! Let me know if you love, hate, and/or recommend me to read or trash any of these books! Thank you all so much, and I hope whatever you’re currently reading is five star worthy! 💛✨

  2. Probably a good decision on ‘Tigana’. I tried a sample & was very bored. Didn’t even finish it^^

I need to read Django Wexler so bad as well 🙂 especially since his books are often compared to Brian McClellan’s ‘Powder Mage’ novels, which I love ❤️

    1. Thank you for this feedback, love! I feel like everyone loves Kay, but I’ve just never been motivated to pick up anything by him? Hopefully soon, but hopefully not Tigana! Haha!

And yeah, I have so many friends who love Django’s books… I really need to start on this series! Let me know if you ever want to buddy read the first one!

      Happy reading, love! 💖xx

  3. Despite the criticisms, I really loved milk & honey! I do suggest spacing it out, though, because I read it all at once and it was so emotional that it kind of pushed me into a depressive episode. I hope you enjoy it when you do read it! ❤

    1. I honestly think I will really enjoy it a lot. I just… I never reach for poetry anymore. But this makes me want to make sure I read and review it before the end of the year! Thank you so much, Sarah love! 💗xx
