Top Ten Tuesday | Longest Books I’ve Ever Read

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018!

Hey, friends! Oh my gosh, I love this week’s topic so much! I’ve read a lot of SFF in my day, which means I’ve inadvertently read some big tomes along the way! And this was so much fun to sort on my Goodreads read shelf, and see what books were the biggest ones I’ve read! And I’ll be honest, I feel like I deserve a gold star at the very least! 📚🍂

➽ Oathbringer (The Stormlight Archive #3) by Brandon Sanderson
1243 pages

➽ Words of Radiance (The Stormlight Archive #2) by Brandon Sanderson
1087 pages

➽ Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
1037 pages

➽ A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire #5) by George R.R. Martin
1016 pages

➽ The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive #1) by Brandon Sanderson
1007 pages

➽ Cocktales Anthology edited by Penny Reid
998 pages

➽ The Wise Man’s Fear (The Kingkiller Chronicle #2) by Patrick Rothfuss
994 pages

➽ A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire #3) by George R.R. Martin
975 pages

➽ Outlander (Outlander #1) by Diana Gabaldon
896 pages

➽ Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter #5) by J.K. Rowling
870 pages

Okay, friends! There you have it! What is the biggest book that you’ve read? Have you read any of the ten that I have? I’d like to take a moment and thank Brandon Sanderson and GRRM! Haha! I hope you’re all having a wonderful week, and I’m wishing you happy reading always! 🍁📖

    1. I honestly would have forgotten so many… I just went to my read shelf on goodreads, clicked on settings in the upper right, and checked page number! Then, I was so surprised which ones were the biggest! Hahah! BUT COME NOV 2019 IT IS GONNA CHANGE! 💛xx

  1. I read all the Game of Thrones, all of the Outlander series, and Patrick Rothfuss. I’m pretty sure the 3rd or 4th Outlander book was +1400 pages, so that would be my number one.
I’m still reading Mistborn… the version I have is books 1-3 but I don’t know if that counts.
Actually, now that I’m thinking about it… the Sherlock Holmes collection I read two years ago was over 2k, and the bible which took me 5 years and felt like a million pages.

Did you have to look at each book to figure out the page numbers or is there an easy way to do it?

    1. Oh gosh… like.. I read it LAST year and I’ve never watched the show, so there is no “nostalgia factor” tied to my review. Honestly? If you like history, you’ll probably like it. I was so impressed how much work Diana actually put into a book that’s older than me! Haha! BUT IT HAS GOT THE SIDE EYE MOMENTS, TOO! 💛xx

    1. Awh, thank you, love! I have a big soft spot for Brandon Sanderson!

As for Gone with the Wind… okay, so my mom named me Melanie because her favorite literary character of all time is Melanie from Gone with the Wind, but I haven’t read it in probably five years. But… it is not a great book, in my opinion, haha. BUT MY MOM WOULD TELL YOU IT IS WORTH IT! Hahah! 💛xx

    1. Don’t you be ashamed ever, love! No different between a 1,000 page book and a 100 page book; one just takes a little longer, hehe! But thank you for your kind words! I hope you’re having the happiest of reading, Shealea love! 💕xx

    1. The Kingkiller Chronicles are my favorite of all-time. All-time. More than any other book you’ll ever see my review. So… I recommend! Hehe! I can’t wait to see you fall in love, too, sweetheart! I actually really want to continue on with Outlander one day, but… so many books, so little time! 💕xx

  4. I do really want to read The Outlander series; it’s the ONLY reason why i haven’t watched the show yet…I don’t want to watch it and then not want to read the books. My mom loved it growing up and it would be great to have a series her and I have both read and (hopefully) enjoyed!

    1. Haha! Okay, so I read it last year for the first time, and I haven’t read the show, and I know it’s hella old, but it actually stood the test of time for me. Like, I couldn’t put it down! It totally has its problems, but I honestly loved 80% of the book! Haha! So now I’m really curious what you’ll think! 💛xx

  5. Oh gosh, I read 7 of those 😀 I think I’m a fan of big books! ..But most classic Fantasy stories are pretty long and that’s what I am reading 🙂

Good on you for reading ‘Gone with the Wind’! I think I feel asleep several times while watching it and Scarlett crying woke me up 😀 It’s not even that I disliked it, it’s just so looooong

    1. Oh my gosh, I knew you’d have read a bunch of these, and my heart is so happy. My mom’s favorite book of all time is Gone with the Wind, hence my name, hahaha, but I was a little obliged. But I do wish she would have named me after a cooler character. Haha 💕xx

  6. Of those, I’ve read Gone With the Wind and Order of the Phoenix, but probably the longest book I’ve read is the uncut version of The Stand by Stephen King – well over a thousand pages. It was amazing.

    1. Those are all hella impressive, but especially The Stephen King! I believe The Stand has… parts in Vegas? Or set in Vegas? Or… something like that! So I should totally pick it up… one of these days! Hahah! Happy reading, love! ❤ xx

  7. Wow, Melanie 😱 You’ve read some super intimidating books, I think the biggest book I’ve ever read was 900+ pages, but probably never a 1000 pages one. Though I’d love to read a series written by Sanderson since everyone loves him so much 😊
    Great post!

    1. I bet you will totally read a 1,000 page one, one day! And what’s a 1,000 page book but two 500 pages ones? Hehe! You are valid, love, always! But thank you for your kind words, sweetheart! I hope you’re having happy reading! 💕xx
