Top Ten Tuesday | Books I’d Like to Read Before the End of 2018

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018!

I can’t even believe we have less than two months left in 2018! Also, at the start of this year I compiled a list of twelve books that I wanted to read, all of which I thought would be five stars. So, this list is made up of the three of those that I have left, and the rest of books that my friends and trusted reviewers have praised so highly that I would love to be able to give them a read before the year is up! 💕

➽ The Queen and the Cure (The Bird and the Sword Chronicles #2) by Amy Harmon

This is book one from that list, and I put it on there because I loved The Bird and the Sword so very much upon reading in 2017!

➽ Now I Rise (The Conqueror’s Saga #2) by Kiersten White

This is book two from that list! Even though I didn’t love And I Darken, too many of my friends have loved this book and promised me that I would love it too!

➽ Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye

Third and last book left on that list, and the one I am most excited about reading!

➽ Queen of Air and Darkness (The Dark Artifices #3) by Cassandra Clare

Let’s be real, I’ve read ten books in 2018  in anticipation for this one! It is getting read and it better get loved, too!

➽ The Kingdom of Copper (The Daevabad Trilogy #2) by S.A. Chakraborty

Wild horses couldn’t drag me away from this one before 2019 rolls around.

➽ The Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton

After falling so in love with Strange Grace this year, I have to read this one before the year is over!

➽ Song of the Dead (Reign of the Fallen #2) by Sarah Glenn Marsh

1.) bi necromancers 2.) Sarah was so kind to put me in the acknowledgements of this book, and I can no longer hold out reading it!

➽ Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

Guess what comes out today? This. Guess who isn’t waiting to read it? Me!

➽ Sadie by Courtney Summers

This is the only one I’m not really sure if I’ll get to, but I really want to because so many people that I love and trust are going to put this one on their best of 2018 lists!

➽ High Voltage (Fever #10) by Karen Marie Moning

If there is one book I know a lot of people want me to read, it is this one. I see it come up in my search engine searches all the time, and I feel so awful that I haven’t read it yet! Soon, friends, I promise! Very soon!

Okay, my loves! That’s all! What book(s) would you like to prioritize before the year is over? Any of them on this list? *whispers* Let’s buddy read them! Happy reading, friends! I hope you’re all reading something five star worthy!💖

    1. This is me… I am only 100 pages into Lady Midnight right now… and I don’t want it to be over already! I don’t know how you all waited a year for each of these amazing books!

But I hope you’re currently having happy reading, Liv! 💛xx

      1. Love you too, Mel! Between rushing to hit end of year goals, attending authors events, and these backlist prompts I’m like swamped with books I want to inhale immediately lol! Finding the time and picking just one is the tricky part! ❤

  1. I can’t wait for Kingdom of Copper to come out and SKYWARD sounds so good (this one might not be in my country till December, I think?.) and I have Sadie already and I am hoping to read it by the year’s end. Let’s see how that works out.

    1. Girl, I cannot believe I read ten books of CC’s either! Hahahaha! But I am 100 pages into Lady Midnight and honestly in love, so…. worth? I think? I hope! Hahaha! And yeah, that’s honestly how I feel about Sadie too. It doesn’t seem like a *me* book, but so many of my friends have loved it… I am getting that fomo! Hahaha! I hope you’re having happy reading, beautiful! 💛xx

      1. Sorry comment intruding lol! This is precisely why I want to know what you think about Sadie! I don’t think this genre is normally your thing, but I’d love to know if it’s strong enough to be a transitional novel rec. If that makes sense…lol

    1. Awh, thank you, love! And I’ll let you know! I feel like Now I Rise has been the book I’ve been putting off each month… hahaha! But hopefully the low expectations will have me enjoy it more! *crosses everything* I hope you’re having happy reading, love! 💛xx

  2. Great list, Mel! Thanks for letting me join you to buddy read Queens of Innis Lear! I put it down a while ago and want to finish it. 😀 So I’m glad I get to read along with you. And I hope you enjoy Sadie! I really wish I didn’t read the ARC but instead listened to it on audio because I think that would’ve affected my rating (in a more positive way!) I did have some issues with that book but overall still highly recommend! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts xx ❤

    1. I hope we love Queens…. but I am a little nervous! I feel like when/if I read Sadie – I’m going to read it physically, so I’m a bit nervous too, but we will see how it goes! Hehe! *fingers crossed* I hope you’re having happy reading! 💛xx

  3. I also want to get to read Sadie soon! I wanted to read it in October as a spooky read, but I ran out of time. It sounds REALLY good- sisters and a mystery are two of my favorite elements of fiction!

  4. nsane right? It almost being 2019 already! The year has flown by! I was really excited to see your list for this week’s TTT. I’ve added quite a few of them to my own wishlist now, thank you very much, lol.

I have the bird and the sword very high upon my wishlist among others – ok you talked about book 2 but I just wanted to mention this haha.

And I loooove that QoAaD is on your list! I’ve been keeping track on your lady midnight updates and so far you’ve been loving it so I am 99,9% sure you’re going to love Lord of Shadows even more haha. And you timed it perfectly because when you’re done reading LoS you’re going to want to start reading QoAaD immediately. I’ve been going insane this past year, waiting for the release of this book, argh.

I really need to read Reign of the Fallen! The cover of book 2 is yet again so frigging awesome, damn! And Skywayrd was on my preorder list so can’t wait till my copy arrives – any day now I believe. I often receive the releases a week after its release thanks to the stupid webshop I order from haha. Tick tock.
