Top Ten Tuesday | Books On My TBR I’m Avoiding Reading

TopTenTuesday
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018!

Hey, loves! Okay, so the ten books that I am about to talk about all have the same thing in common; I am avoiding them because they have been on my TBR for so long and I truly don’t think they are going to hold up in 2019! So, I suppose we can make this T10T kind of like a Down the TBR hole, and you call can let me know if you think I’ll enjoy any of these, or if I should yeet them off my Goodreads TBR immediately! Muhahah! 💕

The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling (2012)

The Color of Magic (Discworld #1) by Terry Pratchett (1983)

Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer (2015)

Inda (Inda #1) by Sherwood Smith (2006)

Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid #1) by Richelle Mead (2007)

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield (2006)

Lament (Books of Faerie #1) by Maggie Stiefvater (2008)

The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard #1) by Scott Lynch (2006)

An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes #1) by Sabaa Tahir (2015)

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (2005)

Okay, that’s the ten I’m picking and that I have been avoiding! Please let me know if you think any of these will hold up and be worth my time in 2019! And I hope you all are having the happiest of reading! 💗

  1. Winter is a good final book, it has the most action, and the ending is amazing 💜

  2. 100% YEET AN EMBER IN THE ASHES ✌🏻 The Book Thief on the other hand??? I’m not sure you will love it but it is super emotional and told in such a unique way, there is definitely a chance that you will LOVE IT. And it’s one of my favourite of all time!

  3. I’ve heard great things about The Book Thief but I DNFd it 😔😔😔 and also hated The Thirteenth Tale… Locke Lamora is next on my list to read, so I really hope it turns out to be nice 😊😊😊

  4. winter is such a solid finale! and my fave of the series, easily. but uh, unpopular opinion, i’d skip the book thief. it was beautifully told sure but so long and just kind of dry? idk, i wasn’t a big fan. and i’ve heard only good things about the lies of locke lamora

  5. I also keep putting of An ember in the ashes for some reason.. I’m not sure if I will ever read the book thief.. The onyl reason why I would is because everyone else seems to love it, but it doesn’t sound appealing to me at all haah

  6. I’ve also had Winter on my TBR for ages! Somehow I always forget to pick it up and choose another book instead😅.
I want to re-read An Ember in the Ashes before continuing with the rest of the series, because I hardly remember anything, haha *whoops*.

  7. Definitely read the Lies of Locke Lamora when you get a chance, I loved the characters and the friendship on this one. The writing can turned some ppl off but you have read different fantasy writing style this one should be no problem 🙂

  8. I’ve still got to read these so can’t really offer any advice, although I’ve heard really good things about several of them. I’ve got to admit that I always put off reading The Casual Vacancy too though. I tried watching the TV adaptation and gave up on it. I want to give it a chance because it’s J.K. Rowling but I don’t think it’ll be for me. I think I’d have more luck with her books as Robert Galbraith. I hope if you do decide to get on with any of these books that you enjoy them.

  9. Melanie, you break my heart! The Book Thief needs to be read! Hahaha! ❤ It's my favorite novel in the world, and it has the most precious characters! I also really enjoyed Winter when I read it all those years ago. It's a lovely conclusion to the series! Happy reading! ❤
