Top Ten Tuesday | Books On My TBR I’m Avoiding Reading

TopTenTuesday
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018!

Hey, loves! Okay, so the ten books that I am about to talk about all have the same thing in common; I am avoiding them because they have been on my TBR for so long and I truly don’t think they are going to hold up in 2019! So, I suppose we can make this T10T kind of like a Down the TBR hole, and you call can let me know if you think I’ll enjoy any of these, or if I should yeet them off my Goodreads TBR immediately! Muhahah! 💕

The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling (2012)

The Color of Magic (Discworld #1) by Terry Pratchett (1983)

Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) by Marissa Meyer (2015)

Inda (Inda #1) by Sherwood Smith (2006)

Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid #1) by Richelle Mead (2007)

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield (2006)

Lament (Books of Faerie #1) by Maggie Stiefvater (2008)

The Lies of Locke Lamora (Gentleman Bastard #1) by Scott Lynch (2006)

An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes #1) by Sabaa Tahir (2015)

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (2005)

Okay, that’s the ten I’m picking and that I have been avoiding! Please let me know if you think any of these will hold up and be worth my time in 2019! And I hope you all are having the happiest of reading! 💗

Down the TBR Hole #24

Down the TBR Hole was originally created by Lost in a Story! The point of it is to help cull your reading lists down, or maybe push higher anticipated releases up on your TBR! And maybe you all can help me along the way, and tell me if you’ve loved or hated any of these!

How it works:
➽ Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
➽ Order on ascending date added.
➽ Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
➽ Read the synopses of the books
➽ Decide: keep it or should it go?

The Six Books:

Becoming by Michelle Obama
How have I not read this book yet? Ahhh! I’m beyond words excited for this one! And nothing could make me take this off of my TBR!
Verdict: Keep ✅

Fruits Basket Collector’s Edition, Vol. 1 by Natsuki Takaya
This manga is totally on my list because of Alexa on Booktube! Alexa loves this so much, and her passion really made me want to pick it up! Maybe I will soon, because I have to read more Manga come 2019!
Verdict: Keep ✅

Shallow Gravesby Kali Wallace
This is completely on my list because of my friend Alexis who loves this book!
Verdict: Keep ✅

Verdict: Delete ❌

Kill The Farm Boy (The Tales of Pell #1) by Delilah S. Dawson & Kevin Hearne
This looks so cute and so funny and I can’t believe I haven’t read this already! I remember back in Spring I was really trying to get an ARC of this, but I haven’t thought about it in a while! I guess that’s the beauty of these posts! But yeah, I totally still want to read this!
Verdict: Keep ✅

The Waking Fire (The Draconis Memoria #1) by Anthony Ryan
I can’t believe I haven’t started this series! I am such a damn slacker! But I have the highest of hopes for this one, and I really need to prioritize it, come 2019!
Verdict: Keep ✅

Okay, my loves, this is the last “Down the TBR Hole” for 2018! I can’t even believe that it’s going to be 2019 next week! But these are the next oldest six books I have on my TBR! Let me know if you love, hate, and/or recommend me to read or trash any of these books! Thank you all so much, and I hope whatever you’re currently reading is five star worthy and I hope you’re having an amazing holiday season! ❄⛄

The Six Books:

Before She Ignites (Fallen Isles #1) by Jodi Meadows
Friends, I’ve had this on my list for so long. And I feel bad, because I always say I’m going to buddy read it with my friend Jules! But the only reason this is on my TBR is because I got it in an OwlCrate. It just never jumps out on my bookshelves and makes me want to read it. Let me know if you liked this one, loves! Convince me to keep it!
Verdict: Delete ❌

Pennies (Dollar #1) by Pepper Winters
I hate using this expression, but Pepper Winters is always my “guilty pleasure” read. Her books are so over the top, unrealistic, and have some problematic content always, but I also can’t put them down. I’m sure this one will be no different. And I have so many other romances on my TBR!
Verdict: Delete ❌

Full Tilt (Full Tilt #1) by Emma Scott
This is a book that I really want to read, because I love Emma Scott and everything else I’ve read by her, but I know it’s going to make me an emotional mess. I’m not sure I’m ready, y’all! But this is also never coming off my TBR!
Verdict: Keep ✅

Far From You by Tess Sharpe
This is another amazing Elise recommendation, I’m sure! And I have the highest of hopes that this will be a hard-hitting masterpiece of a book.
Verdict: Keep ✅

King of Scars (Nikolai Duology #1) by Leigh Bardugo
Yeah, I’ve had this on my TBR since September 2017! I have no shame. And wild horses couldn’t keep me away! The hype is real and I have a MIGHTY need for this book!

Most beautiful cover in the world, and I have a feeling the inside will be just as beautiful.
Verdict: Keep ✅

The Six Books:

Ever the Brave (Clash of Kingdoms #2) by Erin Summerill
When I first was trying to figure out how to work Edelweiss, I requested three books randomly and this is one of them! I have read book one, and I didn’t love it, but I enjoyed it enough. And I hate deleting ARCs from my TBR! One day, one day!
Verdict: Keep ✅

The Essex Serpent by Sarah Perry
I bought this on my birthday in 2017, when I was home and vised a bookstore in Flint. How in the hell have I had this beautiful book for over a year and haven’t picked it up? Why am I like this?
Verdict: Keep ✅

In the Woods (Dublin Murder Squad #1) by Tana French
When I went to the Goodreads Summit in 2017, this amazing friend I made recommended this to me and told me it was her favorite series of all time! (And that book two is better than this one!) And like, it’s the perfect time of year to read this book, so I should honestly do so!
Verdict: Keep ✅

With Everything I Am (The Three #2) by Kristen Ashley
Okay, so everyone who loves romance reads Kristen Ashley, but I somehow have been missing out for all these years! And this is the one that everyone says is her best work. What do you think? The fact that it is #2 scares me! But, maybe they are standalone? Help, friends!
Verdict: Delete ❌

Surviving Raine (Surviving Raine #1) by Shay Savage
Shay Savage is another romance writer that I can’t believe I haven’t read! And I think her books are hella taboo? I think?
Verdict: Delete ❌

Transcendence by Shay Savage
So, you all should tell me which one out of these two that I should keep and start with! Thank you in advance! And I’m sorry I’m such a romance slacker!
