Hey, loves! This Thursday in the US is Thanksgiving! And what better way to celebrate than for me to take this random Top Ten Tuesday topic to talk about the ten books I am most thankful for in my life, all of which have changed my life forever! ✨

I’m thankful because this is the book that ignited my love for all things Fae.

➽ Black Iris by Elliot Wake

I’m thankful because this is the book that made me understand that I am pansexual.

➽ The Bone Witch (The Bone Witch #1) by Rin Chupeco

I’m thankful because Rin Chupeco and her stories makes my Filipino heart so warm.

➽ Radio Silence by Alice Oseman

I’m thankful because it taught me that carving out your own corner of the internet, and filling it with love from fandoms and friends online is valid and worthy and real.

➽ The Fifth Season (The Broken Earth #1) by N.K. Jemisin

I’m thankful because I will never stop moving forward, and I will never stop fighting for a better world, against white supremacy, bigots, and people who will never recognize their internalized racism, because no one ever gets to decide who gets to be people.

➽ The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers #1) by Becky Chambers

I’m thankful because this book proves that finding a found family that gives unconditional love is the most powerful force in the galaxy.

➽ Every Heart a Doorway (Wayward Children #1) by Seanan McGuire

I’m thankful because it taught me that it is okay to be different, and feel differently, and even if no one is looking for you, it doesn’t mean you are less deserving of being found.

➽ The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan

I’m thankful because it healed so many wounds that I constantly open up about my biraciality and my white-passingness.

➽ Bloody Rose (The Band #2) by Nicholas Eames

I’m thankful because this is the first book I was ever in the acknowledgements for and I still can’t believe it. So thankful and so blessed.

➽ Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan

I’m thankful because this book proved that ownvoices queer, Asian stories can be New York Times Best Sellers!

Okay, friends, this was a little personal, and actually made me cry while writing up, but I hope you enjoyed! I also just want to mention that even though most people in the US celebrate Thanksgiving by just being grateful for everything they have and for the family they are able to celebrate with, I don’t want to ignore that this day also marks the genocide of America’s indigenous people. It is heartbreaking and not okay and I don’t want to make light of that whatsoever. November is also Native American Heritage Month in the US, and I’d much rather celebrate that with my loved ones. But I hope you’re all having a safe and happy day, that is filled with a good book or two. ✨
